The weather forecast for today was right on the money calling for a high in the low 70's and that's exactly what we got. It was actually a little on the cool side this morning when we took our walk.
Since we had this nice break from the heat, John decided to head up to Matt's after breakfast and cut some more wood for the winter. When he got done with the wood, he and Hanna went up to the school where she practice her shooting. I also took advantage of the cooler day and was able to bake some bread without heating up the house.
John discovered one of his cucumber vines was all wilted and dying. At first he thought it was from the heat, but upon further examination, he discovered a pocket gopher had been burrowing in that section of the garden and had bitten off the vine. He placed some poison in the hole and is hoping that will get rid of the critters before they can do more damage.
One nice thing about a cooler day is the flower blossoms are looking much better and lasting a little longer. Here is another one of our beautiful blossoms.
We have started this blog to keep family and friends updated with news and photos about our lives in both Minnesota and Texas. We hope you will check in often and enjoy sharing our experiences.
