When we were spending our winters in northern Minnesota, I couldn't wait for December 21st. After weeks of the days getting shorter, this date meant that we had finally reached the shortest and darkest day of the year. Now, we had no where to go but up, and each day would begin gaining a minute or two more of daylight. Wintering here in south Texas, we don't have those long hours of darkness and I don't miss them at all.

The clouds and cool weather returned today, but we still managed to get in our morning walk. After breakfast we made a quick trip to the post office, library, and then the local grocery store to pick up a few ingredients needed for baking some Christmas
cookies. John was getting bored hanging out around the house and needed a project to keep him occupied.

John's back was a little more painful today, but he still managed to roll and cut out the cookie dough. We sampled a couple cookies when they cooled and I must say they were pretty tasty. This evening was spent watching a few TV shows and then a movie. We're still waiting to hear about an MRI.
