The cloudy, chilly weather continued throughout today.  We had to bundle up once again for our walk and even wore our heavier clothes to church this morning.

When we returned home from church, we had some nice hot soup for lunch while we watched the Eagles get pounded by the Giants.  Rodger called as the game was ending and invited us over to his place.  Gene and Jeanne Bevins were already there and we spent some time visiting and making plans for tomorrow night's gathering at our house.  Everyone is to bring snacks and games to play.  Not sure if anyone else is coming, but we'll squeeze them in.

We spent the rest of the evening watching the Dallas/Washington NFL game.

Saturday, December 29, 2012

We had a cloudy and cold day here with temps only reaching into the mid 50's.  It was 31 degrees this morning so John and I bundled up in winter hats and gloves for our walk.  Today was the first Saturday morning breakfast of the season at the RV park, so as soon as we got home from our walk, we gathered up our plates and utensils and headed over to the RV park.  They had a pretty good crowd this morning as many of the winter Texans returned this past week.  We ate with Theresa and as we were finishing up, Gene and Jeanne Bevins came in, so we moved to an empty table to visit with them while they ate.  We also visited with a couple from Utah who are staying at the fort for a couple of days.

When we returned home, John decided to brave the cold weather and play a round of golf.  He had to play this morning as this afternoon was the end of the month scramble.  I opted to stay at home, keep warm, and take down some of the inside Christmas decorations.  I did manage to get most of them down and boxed up--still have the tree to take care of and will probably tackle that job tomorrow or Monday.

John Skyped with Matt for a while this evening as they discussed today's basketball game--the Bears won with Sam scoring 16 points  in the JV game and 10 points in the varsity game.  We ended our day watching another movie.

Friday, December 28, 2012

We had a nice sunny day, but the winds were pretty strong until late in the afternoon.   John and I skipped our walk as he had an 8:15 a.m. doctor's appointment in Uvalde.  This appointment was for a blood pressure check up and I took advantage of our time with the doctor to discuss in more depth the results of my MRI.  I'm still waiting for the back doctor's office to call and set up an appointment to see me.  Our next stop was McD's for some breakfast and then we made a quick visit to Wal Mart to pick up some 50% off Christmas cards and a couple of other items.

As we were traveling home from Uvalde, Rodger called to ask if we wanted to meet for lunch and we said "Yes".  We stopped home to drop off our Wal Mart purchases and then headed to Burger and Shake.  We ran into Everett and Darlene who arrived back on Tuesday and visited with them for a few minutes as they were going out the door.  Bill and Linda were there so we invited them to join us.  Before long John and Libby came in, and our lunch group grew to eight.  We had an enjoyable hour or so visiting and catching up.  Our original plan was to play a round of golf with Rodger and Tootie after lunch, but the winds became so gusty that we decided to play another time.

As we were heading home, John B. called and wanted to know if John wanted to brave the high winds and play some golf.  Of course, he didn't turn him down and off he went.  While he was gone, I started some laundry and worked on the finances.

We spent a pretty quiet evening just relaxing and watching another movie.

Thursday, December 27, 2012

It was another chilly morning when we left the house for our morning walk.  Notice I said "we".  That's right, I felt good enough to give walking a try.  We took the shorter route and I was able to complete it with only a little pain down my leg.  It sure felt good to get some exercise after four weeks of inactivity.

John and I spent some time this morning visiting with John's brother, Gus, and his wife, Katie, via Skype.  It was fun to see each other and catch up on what our families have been doing.

After lunch we headed down to the clubhouse for couple's golf.  Once again we got paired with Wes and Shirley.  We ended up with a score of 4 under par with John chipping in a shot for an eagle.  Since we played best ball, I didn't have to do anything but putt and managed to make one for a birdie.  Our team came in second place--we missed first by one stroke.

This evening we watched the third film of the Lord of the Rings Triology--The Return of the King.

Wednesday, December 26, 2012

The temps took quite a drop overnight.  The thermometer showed 31 degrees this morning when John left the house for his walk.  Needless to say, he bundled up.

This morning was men's golf, but only a few hearty souls showed up to play--John was not among them.  We spent our morning just hanging out around the house and doing nothing of any importance.

John called Mark L. and John B. after lunch and they headed out for a round of golf.  John said the course was pretty empty.  Not too many cold weather players around here.  Everyone likes to play in the warm temps.

We were out of bread again, so while John was gone, I baked another loaf and did some straightening up in our storage area.  JD's family Skyped us early this evening so we were able to see what the kids' got for Christmas and visit for awhile.

This evening was the second installment of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy--The Two Towers.

Tuesday, December 25, 2012

Our weather today was nice and sunny but high winds throughout the entire day kept the temps on the cool side.  We are expected to drop into the lower 30's overnight with the cold air hanging around for several days.

When John returned home from his walk, we ate breakfast and then got busy with the final food preparations for dinner.  I finished up the Jello salad I started last night and then made the stuffing for the turkey.  Around 10 a.m. we put the turkey and stuffing into the oven to be reheated.

This morning we Skyped with Hanna and Rachel and then Amy's family in Wyoming.  We heard about everyone's Christmas gifts and even saw a few of them.  It was fun talking to the kids and hearing them talk about their gifts.

We finished up Skyping just in time to get everything out of the oven, loaded into the car, and head over to Sandwick's where we enjoyed a delicious Christmas dinner and fun conversation.  Following several hours of visiting we started home and, much to our surprise, as we passed Rodger and Tootie's place, saw that they had arrived.  We immediately pulled into their driveway and visited with them.  They had arrived around noon this afternoon after two and a half days on the road.  We spent about half an hour visiting and then left to let them get settled in with promises to get together sometime over the next few days.

This evening we decided to start a Lord of the Rings marathon with watching the first film, The Fellowship of the Ring.  We'd like to watch all three films in the trilogy before seeing the new Hobbit movie.

Hope you all had a Merry Christmas.

Monday, December 24, 2012

We had a beautiful day with plenty of sunshine and temps reaching into the upper 70's.  Following his walk, John made us a delicious breakfast of bacon, eggs, potatoes, and toast.  When we were done eating, we got busy prepping the Christmas turkey for roasting.  We wanted to get the turkey done this morning so we could have our afternoon free.  While the turkey was in the oven, John headed into town to pick up the mail and then did a few errands around the fort.

Once the turkey was out of the oven, we decided it was just too nice to stay indoors, so we headed off to the golf course.  Even though the course is technically closed today and tomorrow, there were quite a few folks playing.  I rode along and watched John play and then helped out with the putting when he got to the greens.  He missed one putt, but I made mine which gave him a birdie on that hole.

Stan M. stopped in for a visit around supper time.  After he left, we got changed and headed off to church for the Christmas Eve Candlelight service which was followed by cookies and other goodies in the fellowship hall.

Once we got back home, we spent the evening watching our two favorite holiday movies--It's A Wonderful Life and A Christmas Story.  John and I watch these two movies every Christmas Eve and never get tired of them.

We'd like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!

Sunday, December 23, 2012

It was a pretty normal Sunday morning for us.  John got his walk in and after breakfast we headed off to church.  The numbers were down this morning due to the fact that some folks are away for the holiday.

John had a date with Mark L. to play a round of golf this afternoon, so right after eating lunch, he headed off to the clubhouse.  He played a good round and even scored an Eagle on one hole.  Needless to say, he was very excited about that.

Right after John got back from golfing, we headed over to Huddy and Jewel's for a Christmas party.  There was a good crowd of about 25 people and plenty of food.  We visited with friends and met some new folks that live here on the fort.  The party broke up in the early evening and we spent the rest of the night relaxing and watching some TV.

Saturday, December 22, 2012

We had clouds with some sunshine in between today with temps reaching into the low 60's and pretty steady winds.  John was up and out for his walk before I got up.  The new nerve pain medicine really did the trick and I was able to get a good night's sleep relatively pain free.

Following breakfast, John went to the post office for the mail and then stopped at Ralph's to drop off our little gift of homemade Christmas cookies.  While he was gone, I spent some time visiting with Rachel over the internet--she likes to keep in touch each day and tell me what she's been doing.

This afternoon John and I made another batch of rolls.  Once they were out of the oven, he headed over to the driving range and from there, headed out to play a few holes.  When he got home, he told me he birdied a couple of holes and parred the rest.   He was very happy with how he played today.

We were just finishing up our supper when Sam and Leta stopped in for a visit.  This is the first we've seen then since returning to the fort as they had been in Florida where Sam had a double knee replacement done.  They spent an hour or so visiting--we had a good time catching up on what everyone has been doing.  We spent the rest of our evening watching some TV before calling it a night.

Friday, December 21, 2012

John was up early for his walk while I slept in this morning.  For the first time in over three weeks I was able to spend the entire night in bed.  Guess it was due to the stronger pain med I took before going to sleep last night.  Whatever the reason, I'm thankful for the good night's rest.

John had a 3:30 p.m. appointment with a dermatologist in Uvalde this afternoon, so that left our morning free to do whatever we wanted.  John headed over to the driving range while I did some work on the computer.  Since we also wanted to do some grocery shopping this afternoon and thought Wal Mart would be pretty busy, we decided to leave right after a quick lunch so we wouldn't be late for his appointment.  Much to our surprise, Wal Mart was pretty empty.  We got all of our shopping done, checked out fast, and had over an hour to kill before his appointment.  John and I decided to get something to eat so we could head home right after he got gone done at the doctor's office.  We ended up at Wendy's since it was just around the corner from where we needed to go.

The doctor gave John's skin a thorough exam and froze about eight to ten questionable spots.  He wants John to see a dermatologist at home in six months to follow up on a spot on his arm.  He felt everything else was fine and had no concerns.

While we were in the waiting room, my doctor's nurse called with the results of my MRI.  She told me I had a bulged disc and gave me a prescription for nerve pain that should give me some relief.  They will make an appointment for me with a back specialist who will determine the best course of treatment.   It was going to take 45 minutes for the prescription to be filled, so we went back to Wendy's for a couple of Freezys to help pass the time.  Once we picked up the medicine, we hit the road to the fort where we spent the evening relaxing and watching a movie.

Thursday, December 20, 2012

We had very strong winds overnight which ushered in a cold front which dropped our temps almost 20 degrees from yesterday.  John bundled up before leaving the house for his morning walk.

Since there was nothing major on our agenda for today, we decided it was a good one to do some laundry and get the house straightened up.  John went into town to pick up the mail and on his way home stopped over at Sandwick's to make final plans for Christmas day.  John volunteered us to bring the turkey, stuffing, gravy, and Jello salad.  Valada will provide everything else with Ralph bringing his famous corn bread and cranberry sauce.

Since our first batch of cutout sugar cookies mysteriously disappeared, we made another one this afternoon.  We were just finishing up our baking project when Dave and Valada stopped in.  They were away the entire month of November and since I've been bummed up most of December,  I hadn't gotten over to their place to visit.  They decided to come and visit me today.  We had a good time catching up.

After they headed out, John decided to play some golf.  He bundled up as the temps were still on the cool side and the winds were blowing pretty steady.  He said he played a poor round, but at least he got outside in the fresh air and got some exercise.  While he was gone, Rachel and I visited over the internet sharing our Christmas plans.  This evening we relaxed and watched some TV before heading off to bed.

Wednesday, December 19, 2012

It was gloomy and overcast when John left the house for his morning walk.  The clouds hung around most of the morning until they cleared off around noon and we ended up with a beautiful afternoon.

I was scheduled for my MRI at 1 p.m. and was very concerned about having to lie on my back for the testing since that causes me a great deal of discomfort.  After several calls to the doctor's office, they told me the dosage and times to take pain meds and a muscle relaxer to make the MRI easier for me.  We decided to head off to Uvalde early so we could get some lunch before heading over to the hospital as we didn't know how long the MRI would take.  The technician was very understanding and went out of his way to make me comfortable and even gave me a break between the two sections of the MRI by pulling me out of the tube and letting me sit up for a few minutes.  When I sit up, it's like a switch immediately turns off the pain.  I must say it was rather uncomfortable at times lying in the MRI machine, but the meds made it bearable--now to wait for the results.  I'm anxious to learn what is pressing on the nerves that cause the pain when lying down.  I am improving, though, and for that I am thankful.

When we got back to Bracketville, we stopped at the post office for the mail and then headed home.  John wanted to play some golf as he missed men's golf this morning.  I went along with him since it was such a beautiful afternoon.  I decided to try some putting, so when John got his ball on the green, I dropped mine right along side of his.  I did a pretty good job putting considering I haven't played in over three weeks.  It felt good to move around and get a little exercise without pain.

Tuesday, December 18, 2012

It was an absolutely beautiful day here in south Texas with a bright blue sky and temps reaching into the lower 80's.  Our warm weather is suppose to continue for another day before a cold front moves through for the weekend with highs only reaching into the 60's.  Now I realize that the folks up north would love to have 60 degree weather this time of year, but to the locals, those temps feel cold.

John keeps leaving a little later each morning for his walk as he has to wait for it to get light enough for him to see where he's going.  With some wild animals here on the fort, it's best to walk when it's light enough to see what's around you.

This morning John took care of a few outdoor chores and then headed into the post office to pick up the mail.  On his way home he stopped and visited with Ralph R. and got a few golfing tips.  After lunch John met up with Mark L. and John B. for a round of golf.  John said he played real well on the first five holes and then his game fell apart.  Even though he had some struggles, he said they had a good time and that's what's important.

I worked on finances this morning and got everything caught up and current.  We realized we were out of bread, so while John was golfing, I got busy making some.  The Christmas cookie stash was also getting low, so we made another batch this evening.  Hopefully they will last through the holidays, but I'm not counting on it.  I think we have a mouse in our house who just loves eating cookies.

Monday, December 17, 2012

John had sunny skies for a change when he went for his walk this morning.  I slept in while he was gone as I had a restless night dealing with leg pain.  I think I need to get back on the stronger pain meds for overnight.

Today was a pretty lazy one for us as there was no golf since the course is closed on Mondays.  Also, wood carving is on hold until after Christmas.  John spent some time this morning working on his carving here at home while I did some reading.  This afternoon he went over to the driving range and spent an hour or so perfecting his swing.  This evening I spent some time conversing with Rachel via computer.  She got her own Kindle Fire for Christmas and now can be out on the internet without having to use her sister's laptop.  Whenever she sees I am online, she'll drop me a quick message and we catch up on what has been happening during our day.  It's a great way to keep in touch.

Sunday, December 16, 2012

It was a pretty quiet day for us.  John took his usual morning walk and then we ate a leisurely breakfast, got cleaned up, and headed off to Sunday School and church.

Following a quick lunch, John met up with John Bridger for 18 holes of golf.  John told me they both had a good round and had the course pretty much to themselves.  While John was gone, I watched some NFL and got the kitchen cleaned upGranddaughter Rachel and I spent some time visiting on the computer as she filled me in on some news from home.  John and I watched the Dallas game and then ended the evening watching the finale of Survivor.

Saturday, December 15, 2012

The clouds of yesterday continued throughout today, but the temps reached into the low 70's.  John was out early for his walk and then made us a nice breakfast of eggs, bacon, toast, and coffee.

After breakfast, John headed over to the driving range while I continued resting my back and doing a few chores around the house that I could handle.  This afternoon John played nine holes of golf and I went along to keep his score.  The course was just about deserted and we only saw a few other folks out playing.  John was just teeing off on the ninth hole when John Bridger called wanting to play some golf.  John finished up the hole, brought me home as I didn't want to go another round, and then went off to meet him at the clubhouse.

That was pretty much our day.  Right now the fort is pretty quiet as folks are heading home for the holidays and many of the activities won't be starting until January.

Friday, December 14, 2012

John and I were up and out the door before daylight this morning as I had an 8:15 a.m. doctor's appointment in Uvalde.  There was no one in the waiting area when we arrived and we only sat a few minutes before being called in to see the doctor.

The steroids I took did their job in so far as they reduced some of the swelling and inflammation of the nerves.  However, the doctor wanted me to be just about pain free by now.  Since I still have pain, we need to find its source, so she ordered an MRI for next Wednesday.  We have to find out if there is a herniated or bulged disc that is causing the continuing pain.  She is also referring me to a back specialist in Eagle Pass and I'm also to go back to see her the first week of January.

Once we were done with the doctor, we headed off to Wal Mart for a quick breakfast and to drop off a prescription.  While waiting for it to be filled, we did a little grocery shopping to restock the milk and fresh product.  We were back on the fort by early afternoon.

Since the weather was cloudy and misty most of the day, we spent the afternoon working on the computer, reading, and watching some TV.

Thursday, December 13, 2012

Our day started off nice and sunny, but clouds and humidity moved in around noon and stayed the rest of the day.

After his morning walk and breakfast, John met up with Mark L. and played 18 holes of golf.  My morning was spent catching up on folding laundry, getting it put away, and taking care of a few other household chores.

This afternoon John dropped me off to get a hair cut while he went to the post office to get our mail and took care of a couple of other errands he had in town.  On our way home we picked up a pizza from PICO's and discovered they make a delicious cheese pizza.  We'll definitely be ordering from them again.

This evening John listened to Sam's basketball game via the computer while I watched some TV and another episode of Downton Abby on my Kindle.  Tomorrow morning it's back to the clinic to see what the next step is in dealing with my sciatica.

Wednesday, December 12, 2012

We were a little warmer today with the temps reaching into the low 60's.  John took his usual morning walk and after breakfast headed down to the clubhouse for men's golf.  Due to the colder temps, only seven guys showed up to play. They split into two teams with John's team winning once again with a score of three under par.

While John was gone I managed to get a load of towels started and did a little straightening up.  The pain is not as intense so I can stand for longer periods of time and get a few chores done.

After lunch, John wanted to go back out for some more golf and I decided to go along and get some fresh air.  I also wanted to try filming his golf swing with my new camera.  We started on hole three and played through to eight and then went back on three again. There we ran into Charles and Bob.  They asked John to join them so he played the same holes again.  When they headed across the street to play nine, John stopped and left me off and I just walked across the lawn and into the house.  It was time for a pain pill and I wanted to keep on schedule for taking them.  Since we had our first frost the other evening, the mesquite trees are fading fast and dropping their thin little leaves.  We are seeing the Texas fall colors now--they aren't the vibrant colors we get up north.

We spent a quiet evening watching Survivor and a couple of other shows before calling it a night.

Tuesday, December 11, 2012

The colder weather continued today with the highs reaching the low 50's.  The temperature was below freezing this morning so John had to dig out a winter cap and gloves.  I know, we've turned into a couple of cold weather sissies.

Matt sent a text this morning asking us to Skype, so we visited with him for a while over the computer.  It's so cold up north right now that he hasn't been able to work for the past couple of days.  I spent some time working on the computer and got my 2013calendar completed and ordered.  We were just getting ready for lunch when Ralph R. stopped in for a visit.  It's always fun talking with Ralph and hearing his stories about his time in the Air Force.

After lunch, John headed off to the clubhouse where he met up with John B. and Mark L. for 18 holes of golf.  John said he played pretty good today and is encouraged about how his game is improving.  While he was gone, I did some reading and watched another Downton Abby episode on my Kindle.

The doctor's office called this afternoon to check up on how I'm doing.  The new pain meds are definitely helping and I've been able to be up and around a little more.  I have an appointment on Friday morning, so I'm hoping she'll come up with a plan of action when I see her.    Following supper John and I made a batch of sugar cookies for giveing out as Christmas treats and then spent the rest of the evening watching some TV before calling it a night.

Monday, December 10, 2012

Wow!  What a change in the weather overnight.  We went from high's in the upper 70's to highs in the mid 50's.  Add to those temps a strong breeze and we were on the cold side for us.  John bundled us in several layers for his morning walk.

After breakfast, John headed over to the RV park for wood carvers--only three people showed up today.  Several folks have left for the holidays and others were just busy with other things.  John was back home a little after 11 a.m.--he usually isn't back until noon or later.

While he was gone, I sorted through many photos on the computer looking for just the right ones to use on my 2013 calendar.  I make a new one every December using the Shutterfly web site.  Since the weather was still a little on the chilly side this afternoon, John spent some time out in the shed repainting our metal hose holder and decoration from the side of the shed.

After supper I finally got the last of the photos I wanted sorted out and uploaded them to Shutterfly.  Next, I'll start adding them to the templates I want to use for each month.  Hopefully, I'll get that job completed tomorrow and can get the calendar ordered.

I called the clinic this afternoon to let the PA know how I was doing on the stronger pain meds.  I must say I'm doing better, but I don't know if the meds are just masking the problem, or is the nerve really calming down and healing.  I was told they received a copy of my x-ray report from MN so now I have to wait to hear from them about what the next steps in treatment will be.

Sunday, December 9, 2012

It was warm and humid when John left the house this morning for his walk and it stayed that way all day.  A cold front is suppose to come through overnight with temps almost 30 degrees colder tomorrow.  We'll have to break out the long pants and sweatshirts again.

Even though I had a rough night, I decided to get to church this morning.  I actually made out okay as the pain is much more bearable when I'm sitting.  There was a potluck after the service and it felt good to get out among people and visit.

John Bridger called while we were on our way home and asked if John wanted to play some golf.  He already had a date to play with Mark this afternoon, so the three of them, along with another friend of Mark's, met up at the clubhouse and played 18 holes.  John said they had a lot of fun and that his drives were much improved.

I spent my afternoon watching some of the NFL games and another episode of Downton Abby on my Kindle.  I also managed to get the finances updated.  Betty Wright loaned me her heating pad and I used that this afternoon--it seemed to help with the pain, so I'll do another heat treatment this evening while I watch the finale of The Amazing Race.

Saturday, December 8, 2012

John was up nice and early for his walk as there was a rummage sale down the street from us and we wanted to drop in to see if there was, once again, anything we couldn't live without.

While John was gone, I ate breakfast and got cleaned up.  Since the trouble began with my leg and hip, it takes me quite a bit longer to get ready in the mornings.  After John ate, we hopped in the golf cart and headed down the street to Dee and Jerry's.  John said there was quite a crowd waiting for the sale to start when he walked by their house.

Even though we were at the sale 45 minutes after it started, they were already pretty well cleaned out of stuff.  However, John did manage to find a golf cart cover and a little battery tester to use on our boat's battery.

Pretty well cleaned out after 45 minutes

The other day John met Jerry's neighbor, Mark, and they seemed to hit it off.  This morning they met up at the clubhouse and played 18 holes of golf.  I'm glad John has found someone else to play with since I can't go with him right now.  The guys plan to play again tomorrow afternoon.

With John gone a good part of the morning, I managed to get all the Christmas and gift cards ready to be mailed along with the cards for our church friends.

This afternoon we took a golf cart ride over to Unit 37.  On the way we stopped and visited a few minutes with Theresa B. and then ran into Bee and Nancy S. on the road.  This was the first we had seen them since they had been in Mexico for the previous month.  From there we stopped in at Betty and Harlan's and ended up staying awhile.  John and Betty are both wood carvers and he wanted to check to see if there would be carving on Monday as Wallace is away until after the holidays. We had bread dough going in the bread machine, so we had to head straight home from there.

We got the buns made along with a peach cobbler to take to tomorrow's potluck dinner after church.  The rest of the evening was spent watching a movie before calling it a day.  On a side note, the stronger pain killer is working much better--thank goodness!!

Friday, December 7, 2012

This morning was overcast with a light mist when John left for his morning walk.  The clouds hung around most of the day as did the humidity.

We left the house right after breakfast and headed over to the clinic in Uvalde where I signed a medical information release form so my x-ray report could be sent to them.  The PA had wanted me to check in as well to let her know how the steroids were working.  I told the receptionist the pain level was still pretty high and I still couldn't be up on my feet more than a few moments at a time.  She said she would talk to the PA and get back to me later in the day.

We needed a few staples such as milk and fresh produce, so our next stop was Wal Mart.  I knew I wouldn't be able to walk through the store, so John got a little wheelchair with a basket and pushed me around.  I must say I felt a little self-conscious being wheeled around but it was interesting seeing the shelves and the store from a different perspective.

Our final stop was, of course, Wendy's for some lunch before hitting the road back to the fort.  Once the groceries were put away, John went over to the driving range and then played a round of golf.  While he was gone, I got more of the Christmas cards done--hopefully, I'll get that job completed tomorrow.  The clinic called and told me they were giving me a prescription for a stronger pain medication.  John ran into town, picked it up for me, and I took the first pill with supper.  I have trouble with pain meds making me nauseous, so I hope this one will work out and give me some relief.

This evening I experimented with my Kindle and downloaded and watched the first episode of Downton Abby on it while John watched some TV.  I will have to do some more digging on Amazon and see what else I can watch.

Thursday, December 6, 2012

John had another beautiful morning for his walk.  While he was gone, I slept in for an extra half hour.

Our original plan for the day was to head over to the clinic in Uvalde first thing this morning so I could sign a medical records release form for my x-ray reports from home to be sent down here.  Since we were running a little late, we decided that plan had to be put off until tomorrow as we couldn't be back by noon when we needed to meet Wes and Shirley at the clubhouse to set up the couple's golf.

With our plans changed, John headed off to the post office for the mail and stamps and a quick stop at the local grocery store for a couple of items we needed.  I decided this was a good time to tackle the job of writing our annual Christmas letter and getting the cards started.  With an hour of uninterrupted time, I got the letter completed and most of the envelopes addressed.

After lunch we headed down to the clubhouse where we met up with Camfield's and got the couples' golf entries set up.  We were pretty busy for the next half hour or so as folks came in to pay their money and pick a number for their starting hole.  Once everyone was out on the course, John and I came home to wait for the rounds to get over.  While I was on the computer, Amy Skyped me so we spent the next hour visiting and catching up.  Then it was back to the clubhouse to check scores, determine the winners, and hand out the cash prizes.

John headed out to play a couple of holes of golf before supper while I worked on the Christmas cards again.  This evening John listened to Sam's basketball game on the computer while I watched a couple of my favorite shows.

Roofing Being Done Everywhere!!

John and I have been keeping pretty busy over these last several weeks.  Our weather has turned quite warm, but the nights cool down very ni...
