This morning was bright and sunny and cold. Temps were in the mid 30's, but we bundled up again and took our morning walk. After breakfast, John headed off to the Service Club where candidates running for the board held a "Meet the Candidates" get together. It was a time of hearing what the different candidates had to say about the future of the fort and to also take questions from the members. Since John is a little more interested in fort politics than I am, I elected to stay home and take care of some chores. Mid-morning I happened to look out the back window and saw some turkeys attacking the salt lick we purchased for the deer. The Toms are starting to get more colorful as the mating season nears.

Mid afternoon Tim and Mary Ellen picked us up and we headed to Uvalde to tour an aviation museum and later to attend the Winter Texan dinner and dance which was sponsored by the chamber of commerce. At the museum we saw a video about how small light planes were used during WW II and learned what an important part they played in the war effort. We also were able to see some beautifully restored planes.

We left the museum and headed over to the senior center where over 260 Winter Texans gathered for a fun evening. We were served a delicious stew, corn bread, dessert, and drinks. While we were eating nu
merous door prizes were given away. There was a great country band to provide the evening's entertainment and everyone enjoyed listening to good music and dancing. John actually danced the Texas Two Step. What fun! Some of our friends left before the evening was over and they gave us their ticket stubs. We made quite a haul in door prizes. Tim and Mary Ellen are the couple dancing. I don't think any of us will have trouble sleeping tonight.
