This morning it was cloudy and misting with high humidity when we took our walk, but the sun soon appeared and it turned out to be a very beautiful day.

I spent most of the morning cleaning out cupboards and sorting through which canned goods would be taken home and what could be left here.  We've decided to have the electricity turned off for the summer, so that means the freezer and fridge will also have to be completely emptied.

While I was busy with some of the sorting and packing, John went over to Gerald's place to talk to him about our golf cart.  He has agreed to keep our cart at his place and use it while we are gone.  We think this is a much better option that leaving it in the shed--this way Gerald can keep the batteries charged and have transportation around the fort.

John then stopped in and visited with Sam Lark.  Sam just returned home last evening after having open heart surgery on Monday night.  Sam says he's doing fine and is relatively pain free.  He'll soon be back to doing his normal activities.  We all were glad to hear his surgery was successful.

John and I waited until later in the afternoon to play golf.  We thought it might be a little cooler by then, but the sun was still pretty strong and it was quite warm out on the course.  Mary Ellen stopped by and took a couple of photos of us putting.  These might be used in a new marketing brochure the fort is publishing.

We also had several visitors today.  Stan Metcalf stopped by after lunch and visited for a while and, this evening, Gene Bevins and his grandson, Zach, dropped in while out on a golf cart ride around the neighborhood.  Things are starting to wind down here at Fort Clark as the Winter Texans start heading home.
