Day 2 of our Yellowstone Adventure - We were up early again this morning so we could return to the park and see more of Yellowstone. Yesterday we saw Old Faithful and the other geysers as well as the hot springs. Today we toured around the eastern side of the park and saw more of the waterfalls and Yellowstone Lake. We were also very fortunate to witness some extraordinary animal events.

This afternoon we headed to a spot where folks had told us grizzly's were seen. As we came down the road we saw many cars parked on the side and people standing on the grass with cameras. We asked someone what they were looking at and were told a bear was on the grass. John and I got out of the car and walked across the road where we talked to a park ranger. We saw a big bear lying on the grass. The ranger told us the bear, which was a male grizzly, had killed an elk calf that morning and then took several hours to eat it. The bear then decided to lay down right there and take a nap. The ranger said it was most unusual for a grizzly to lay down and sleep so close to the road and with so many people watching. Several other rangers arrived to help with traffic control and to keep people back far enough from the bear. While we were there, the bear suddenly got up and started walking towards the woods. The people watching, including us, got a little nervous. The bear only walked a couple of yards, and then laid down and went back to sleep again. What an awesome thing to see. Here is a photo of the sleeping grizzly. Check out the claws.

After the bear excitement we headed farther down the road where we found a herd of buffalo. There many little calves were busy eating.

We saw so many wonderful sights over the last two days. I'm sure we could spend a week and still not see all the wonders of Yellowstone. I know one thing for sure, we will be back for another visit.

Tomorrow we will start heading east toward home. We should be there in two or three days, depending on if there is something interesting to see on the way. Here are a few more photos of our adventure in Yellowstone.
