John and I had big plans for today--a doctor's appointment in Fargo for me and then some birthday shopping for the grand kids plus a stop at Sam's Club to restock some household items.

We were up nice and early for our walk and then had an hour or so to get cleaned up and ready to leave the house by 9:45 a.m. Just before we left, our daughter Susie called to tell us that her mother-in-law had passed away after a two year battle with cancer. Susie and her husband, Mike, had flown in from Sacramento last week to spend some time with Mike's mom. Mike returned home on Tuesday while Susie decided to stay on and help the family with Shirley's care.

It's about a two and a half hour drive to Fargo and we arrived right around lunch time. We stopped at a nice family restaurant, had a very good meal, and then, using our trusty Garmin, found our way to the doctor's office. While I was in with the doctor, Susie called to say she was coming to Bagley to see us and Matt's family and would be spending the night at our place. We decided to skip the birthday shopping and just hit Sam's Club so we could get home at a reasonable time. Plans were made for us to pick up some pizza and pop and meet Susie at Matt's house for supper. We had a fun evening visiting and talking over old times. Susie decided to stay and get Sara to giver her a hair cut--John and I elected to come home and rest up after a long day of traveling and shopping.
